Am I an employee?
No. Sitters work with Little Break as independent contractors. You choose your shifts, can turn any down, can work elsewhere, and handle your own taxes.
Do I need first aid before I apply?
You can apply any time, but you'll need a current Standard First Aid with CPR (infant and child) certificate before training starts. Pick a course with hands-on practice.
When do I get paid?
Within 1 to 2 business days of checking out of a shift, straight to your bank through Stripe. Want it faster? Choose an instant payout to your debit card and it usually arrives within 30 minutes, even on weekends. Instant payouts carry Stripe's 1% fee, which comes off your payout (about $0.88 on an $88 sit); standard payouts are free. Your first payout can take about a week while your account is verified.
How much do I have to work?
As much or as little as you like. There are no minimum hours.
Can I choose which families I sit for?
Yes. You see each family's ratings and details before you pick up a shift, and families can save you as a favourite so you get first offer.
I'm 16. Can I join?
Yes, as a Junior sitter, with a Red Cross babysitting course, first aid, and a parent or guardian who signs your agreement.
What if something goes wrong on a sit?
Your training covers emergencies step by step, and our team is a call or a tap away. In an emergency, you always call 911 first.
